This question comes up often, and just like asking “Which is the best car?”, there isn’t a one-size-fits-all answer. Several factors influence what type of CBD Oil you might need, and it’s common that one kind of oil works well for someone, but might not be recommended for someone else. That’s why it makes much more sense to ask: which is the best CBD Oil for YOU?
And here’s the answer: The one that best fits your circumstances, condition, and needs.
So, in this article, we’ll break down how to figure out which CBD Oil is best for you!
It’s absolutely essential to understand a few basic concepts so you can choose a product that lives up to your expectations. We’ll do our best to explain these concepts as clearly as possible, and also point out misleading products and marketing tricks that can make the right decision more difficult.
Let’s dive right in!
There are many misconceptions surrounding CBD Oil, and it can be confusing to navigate, especially since various websites selling different CBD brands—and even seemingly independent blogs and Facebook groups—often promote the products that sell the most or bring them the highest profit. This results in a lot of misleading information.
CBD shops and online stores have popped up like mushrooms, and now even DM and ROSSMANN offer CBD Oil. The scene is chaotic, with plenty of false claims, so we recommend reading this article even if you’re not a beginner user!
We will detail the main differences between CBD Oils, the key ingredients they contain, what makes a CBD Oil valuable and therapeutically beneficial, the tricks used to mislead consumers, and how you can protect yourself against them.

The cannabis plant contains more than a hundred cannabinoids, though science only understands a fraction of them.
One of these cannabinoids is CBD itself—just to name the most well-known—but alongside it, there are CBDA, CBDV, CBG, CBC, CBN, and of course, THC. The plant produces these cannabinoids in the highest quantities, and these are the compounds backed by substantial scientific literature and significant therapeutic potential.
Cannabinoids directly or indirectly interact with our endocannabinoid system (ECS), which plays roles in regulating mood, sleep, pain perception, immune response, and digestion, among other functions. From a therapeutic standpoint, CBD Oil is most effective when it contains as many beneficial cannabis compounds as possible because this is what allows it to best influence our endocannabinoid system.
This is a scientifically supported phenomenon known as the entourage effect, discovered by Dr. Raphael Mechoulam in the 1960s. He first proposed that cannabinoids are not most effective individually but work best in concert with one another. This theory has since been confirmed and expanded upon by the leading researcher on the entourage effect, cannabis expert, and neurologist Dr. Ethan Russo, especially in his comprehensive 2011 study.

Terpenes are key players in the cannabis plant, and they’re much more than just fragrances.
Let’s take a closer look at what terpenes are, why they’re important in CBD oils, and how they contribute to the entourage effect.
Terpenes are natural, volatile aromatic compounds that give plants their distinctive scents and flavors—think lavender, orange, pine, or cannabis itself.
More than 200 different terpenes have been identified in cannabis, giving each strain its unique aromatic profile.
These compounds don’t just please our noses—they also have pharmacological effects on the human body!
Terpenes interact synergistically with cannabinoids, enhancing the effectiveness of CBD Oil.
We mention flavonoids simply for the sake of completeness.
They are beneficial compounds, but even the most gently produced CBD Oils contain very little of them. Because of this, we believe that any reputable seller shouldn’t use flavonoid content as a claim to prove their product’s quality.
Flavonoids are natural coloring and antioxidant compounds found in almost every plant—vegetables, fruits, tea, and even red wine. They provide plants their color and serve a protective function: shielding them from UV radiation, insects, and pathogens.
Flavonoids found specifically in the cannabis plant are called cannaflavins. They possess unique pharmacological properties, acting as strong antioxidants and anti-inflammatory agents.
Now you know which ingredients are key in CBD Oil, and that the more diverse the compounds in the product, the better! It’s time to talk about the two main categories into which all CBD oils and products generally fall. Choosing the right one matters!

This category includes all CBD products that contain multiple cannabinoids and terpenes, but no THC.
THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) is the most well-known psychoactive component of cannabis—it’s the compound responsible for the “high” sensation.
- During seizures
- For anxiety management
- In cases of psychosis or mental disorders
- For migraines
- If sensitive to THC
- For those who undergo regular drug tests at work
THC sensitivity means that a person reacts more strongly to THC than most people. This heightened sensitivity can cause a variety of unpleasant or unusual symptoms, even at low doses.
- Increased feelings of anxiety
- Rapid heartbeat
- Panic attack-like symptoms (e.g., shortness of breath, chest tightness, fear of dying)
- Excessive suspicion toward others
- Feeling detached from reality
- Delusions (less common)
- Difficulty concentrating
- Short-term memory impairment
- Confusion
- Dizziness, balance problems
- Weakness due to low blood pressure
- Sweating, shaking
- Hallucinations (rare but possible)
- Distorted perception of time and space

A CBD Oil is considered full-spectrum if it contains CBD along with multiple other cannabinoids and terpenes—similar to broad-spectrum oil—but with one crucial difference. Full-spectrum CBD products contain up to 0.2% THC! (This limit varies by country: in Czechia and Switzerland, it can be up to 1%, and in Italy, up to 0.4%.)
This amount of THC is too low to cause psychoactive effects—which CBD can actually counteract—but sufficient to deliver a stronger therapeutic impact.
Although many people know THC for its psychoactive effects, it also has several clinically studied therapeutic benefits:
Used to alleviate chronic and neuropathic pain
Especially important for chemotherapy-induced nausea
Can improve appetite, which matters significantly for cancer patients or during recovery from surgery
May help reduce spasticity in multiple sclerosis (MS) patients
Can assist with falling asleep and improving sleep quality
THC’s anti-cancer properties have been explored in numerous preclinical studies (cell cultures and animal experiments), showing promising anti-tumor effects.
- Inflammatory diseases
- Muscle spasms
- Joint inflammation
- Low appetite
- Insomnia
- Thyroid disorders
- Pain and nausea
- Depression
- Cancer patients
Don’t use full-spectrum CBD oil if you are sensitive to THC or if you need to undergo regular drug testing for work!
By now, you also know that high-quality CBD oil contains a variety of cannabinoids, as these ingredients enhance each other and elevate the therapeutic effect.
However, there are products on the market labeled as premium, claiming high quality and effectiveness because they are produced in Switzerland in state-of-the-art facilities. But when you check their certificates, you see that apart from CBD, they contain few or no other cannabinoids, and in very low amounts.
Then there are the downright misleading products, whose labels prominently display the word "CBD" but actually contain only hemp seed oil. As the name suggests, hemp seed oil is made from the seeds of the hemp plant, not from its flowers. Hemp seed oil contains little or no CBD.
One example of such misleading CBD oil is the REVERS product, which contains only hemp seed oil, yet "CBD" is featured conspicuously on the packaging:

The other type of misleading products are those marketed as full-spectrum CBD oils but are actually broad-spectrum—and sometimes even poor-quality broad-spectrum products at that.
Anyone can say whatever they want about their product, but there’s a factual document you need to look for called the cannabinoid certificate!
This document is issued by an independent, specialized cannabis testing lab and certifies the active ingredient content of the CBD oil and details which cannabinoids are present in the product. You need to find this certificate in the product data sheet to truly know what you are buying.
Important: Any cannabinoid certificate or laboratory report uploaded that only shows the manufacturer’s name or CBD Oil’s brand name without lab details is not an official document—it proves nothing!
It includes the name of the testing laboratory, contact details, the name of the person responsible for the analysis, the production batch or LOT number of the CBD oil, the date of the test, and the sample number.

Almost all these documents are issued in English and use a lot of abbreviations that can be confusing even for English speakers.
This is the most important column for you! The values here show the measured content of active ingredients in the product. If you see the notation ND (Not Detected) next to a cannabinoid in the RESULT column, it means that compound is absent from the oil.
The detection limit indicates the lowest amount of a substance that the instrument can reliably detect, although it might not accurately measure it yet.
The quantification limit shows the lowest concentration of a substance that can not only be detected but also precisely measured by an analytical method.
If the amount exceeds the LOQ, the measurement is trustworthy and can be interpreted accurately.

We often find that while the cannabinoid certificate associated with a CBD oil may be official and issued by an independent lab, the issuance date is 2-3 years old.
CBD oils need to be tested batch by batch. These products typically keep their shelf life for 1-2 years unopened, depending on the carrier oil and raw cannabis extract used. If you see a cannabinoid analysis older than two years, it almost certainly doesn’t belong to the product you’re currently looking at—unless it’s an expired oil.

It’s more accurate to say that a CBD oil becomes expensive because it’s produced in Switzerland.
Quality assurance systems tied to manufacturing are international and set the same requirements across countries. A GMP or ISO certificate means the same in Switzerland as it does in any other European country. Therefore, a Swiss GMP-certified manufacturing site isn’t inherently different from a certified facility in Austria or Slovenia.
Naturally, in Switzerland, workers are paid Swiss wages, and other high production costs are factored into the product’s price, which ultimately impacts you. Switzerland itself is a respected brand name that conveys precision, accuracy, and purity for everything made there, but a CBD oil’s quality depends on its ingredients, not where it’s made!
The absence of THC doesn’t make a CBD oil better. In fact, in most cases, the presence of THC is beneficial due to the previously mentioned entourage effect.
Full-spectrum CBD oils have around 0.2% THC, which is not a large amount but has a significant therapeutic effect even at these low doses. In these products, the CBD levels far exceed THC’s, and we know that CBD greatly reduces THC’s psychoactive effects, meaning you don’t have to worry about getting “high.”
You might read nonsense claiming that THC or full-spectrum CBD oils cause addiction. Fortunately, this is not true—it’s only perpetuated by those who want to push sales of broad-spectrum (THC-free) products.
Even after long-term use—up to a year—of high doses (600-700 mg daily) of full-spectrum CBD oil, no addiction or withdrawal symptoms appear when stopping the product abruptly.
An oil with CPNP (Cosmetic Product Notification Portal) registration means it’s registered as a cosmetic product. That’s all! CPNP registration offers no guarantee of quality. The registering organization does not verify the product’s true composition or quality during the registration process!

This will determine whether broad-spectrum or full-spectrum CBD Oil is the better choice for you.
If you need to take drug tests, avoid full-spectrum oils because you can't be sure how sensitive the test will be. 0.2% THC isn't much, but there's no guarantee the test won't detect it!
Competitive sports: The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) permits the use of CBD, but only pure CBD. That means no other cannabinoids (CBG, CBC, CBN, etc.) are allowed! Athletes tested by WADA can only use products manufactured in WADA-certified facilities and that contain only CBD among all cannabinoids!
If it does, and it certifies that the oil contains cannabinoids beyond CBD (Check the RESULT column!), you’re on the right track. (Always check the certificate's issue date, too!) Choose a CBD Oil that contains a variety of cannabinoids besides CBD! Look for products with high CBDA and CBG content, as these ingredients have especially strong therapeutic properties and significantly enhance the effects of CBD!
GMP, which stands for Good Manufacturing Practice, is a system designed to ensure that products directly affecting human health—such as medicines, medical devices, or food—are produced safely and under controlled conditions.
This quality assurance system covers every step of the manufacturing process, paying special attention to the production environment, equipment, technologies used, raw materials, and the qualifications of the personnel involved. So GMP guarantees not just the quality of the final product but also the reliability of the entire manufacturing process.
Look for CBD Oils produced in facilities with GMP certification!
The phrase "We manufacture following GMP guidelines" doesn’t necessarily mean that the manufacturer actually holds a GMP certificate. We highlight this because it’s a common marketing tactic to claim GMP certification without official documentation.
The concentration of CBD Oils shows how much active ingredient (CBD, CBG, CBN, etc.) is contained per unit of product. The same amount of active ingredient can be taken with a lower concentration oil; you simply need to take more drops.
If you need a large daily dose or want to save money, it’s worth opting for a higher concentration or stronger CBD Oil because larger sizes are more cost-effective and make dosing more convenient.
