Cannabis Oil and Sexual Desire

Cannabis Oil and Sexual Desire

Cannabis - CBD Oil & Sexual Functions: What Does Science Say?

With the legalization of cannabis, more and more people worldwide are using the plant or its extracts—CBD Oil—for medical or recreational purposes. The therapeutic effects come from natural compounds called cannabinoids. Well-known cannabinoids include CBD, THC, CBG, CBN, and CBC, just to name a few, but over a hundred beneficial components can be found in the cannabis plant.

Many don’t realize that our bodies also produce cannabinoids, called endocannabinoids, which play an important and complex role, for example, in regulating our mood and overall well-being. Recent research shows that both externally supplied cannabinoids and naturally occurring endocannabinoids in our bodies may affect sexual functions.

How Does Cannabis Affect Sexual Desire?

Research suggests that cannabinoids influence the female hormonal system, which directly impacts sexual desire and fertility.

Researchers analyzed 12 human and 8 animal studies. The human study involved 811 adult cannabis users who completed online questionnaires. A significant portion, about 70%, reported increased sexual desire and more intense orgasms after using cannabis.

One key finding from both animal and human studies is that cannabis and oils made from it—commonly called CBD Oil—can improve sexual performance and satisfaction in both men and women.

How Should I Dose Cannabis Oil to Improve the Quality of Sexual Intimacy?

Dosing can vary individually regarding what counts as a low or high dose, but the basic rule for cannabis oil dosage still applies: start with a low dose and gradually increase every 4-7 days as needed until the desired effect is reached. Our dosage guide’s standard table can be a good starting point to find the right amount.

Buying CBD Oil: Which Oil Should I Try? Full-Spectrum or Broad-Spectrum?

There are two main types of CBD oils: broad-spectrum and full-spectrum. The most important difference between them is that broad-spectrum products contain no THC. Based on available research findings and user reports, it can be stated that full-spectrum oils, which contain trace amounts of THC, may have the most optimal effect on sexual function.

What Does the Future Hold?

Interest in the effects of cannabis oil on sexual function is continuously growing, especially as recreational and medical use becomes more widespread.

However, further research is necessary to fully understand cannabis’s impact on sexuality. Current data are promising, but many questions remain unanswered. As cannabis legalization expands, it is crucial to advance our knowledge in this field through well-controlled studies.
